HONORS TRANSFER GUIDE
for University General Education Requirements
Approved by the University Board of Visitors

Transferring from GMU

If a student transfers from GMU after completing the Honors Program, it is recommended that the credit be transferred as follows:

English composition 6 credits
Humanities 9 credits
Social Sciences 10 credits
Mathematics 6 credits
(8 credits if MATH 113-114 or MATH 115-116)
Laboratory Science 8 credits
TOTAL 39 credits (or 41 credits depending on math courses)

If a student leaves Honors before completing the Program, but remains at Mason, the following is recommended:

Synthesis Entire Honors curriculum* (starting Fall 2006)

*This means that a student must complete the Honors curriculum in its entirety to fulfill this requirement. If a student leaves the program before completion, he/she must complete a course in the university general education list to fulfill this requirement.

**Both courses taken together during the second semester of the first year.

***A student who leaves the program before completion must select one of these courses to fulfill the requirement. That course may then not be used to satisfy any other requirement. In other words, an Honors course in this category may fulfill only one university general education requirement.
