Text:                           Calculus, Single Variable, 4th Edition, by Hughes-Hallett,                                                     Gleason, McCallum et al.

 

Course Topics:           We will cover most of chapters 1 through 5.

 

Homework                  Homework will be assigned regularly in class and will be graded.                      and quizzes:         There will also be occasional quizzes, which will be announced in                                               class and on the course website.

 

Exams:                        Three midterm examinations will be given during the semester.                                       Tentative dates are September 22, October 20, and November 17.                                             Note:  these dates are subject to change.  It is the responsibility of                                               the student to be aware of any changes.

                                     

Final Exam:                Thursday, December 15, 10:301:15.  The exam will be                                                         comprehensive and will be worth 200 points.

 

Grades:                       Grades will be weighted approximately as follows:

                                                Tests:                           300 points (100 points each)

                                                Homework/ quizzes:     200 points

                                                Final Exam:                   200 points

 

                                    The grading scale will be approximately:  A: 90-100%;  B: 80-89%;  C: 70-79%; D: 60-69%;  F: 59% and below.
